Episode 13: Department of Emergency Management

Hellen is joined by Chief Information Officer at the Division of Emergency Management and member of the Lexington Community Radio Steering Committee, John Bobel, to discuss how to keep our homes safe from weather and human error. The Lexington-Fayette County Department of Emergency Management works every day of the year to predict, prevent, and help us recover from natural and man-made disasters. John Bobel, Chief Information Officer at DEM, takes us behind the scenes at the Emergency Management Operations Center. He has great advice about keeping your home safe from the powerful forces we invite into it: water, natural gas, and electricity—in everyday and emergency situations. We also learn about the Community Emergency Response Team.
